Hastings choir makes donation to local youth charity

The Sound Waves Community Choir recently made a generous donation of £1,700 to local charity XTRAX at their annual general meeting. The gift will help support the charity’s efforts to assist the most vulnerable of young people in the Hastings and Rother area. HOT’s Jordan Dixon writes.

Hastings Fringe Festival announces two fundraising evenings of performance to raise awareness of The Sara Lee Trust (Thursday 14 September at The Albion), and The Penny Beale Memorial Fund (Sunday 24 September at The Beacon) as part of its events taking place throughout September. Portraits, People and Places

Three Way Split is a new annual event sponsored by the Hastings Arts Forum, where a third of all proceeds from the sale of artwork will be given to a nominated charitable organisation within the Hastings/St Leonards community. This year’s donation will go to The Hastings Fishermen’s Protection Society (HFPS). Each piece of artwork will be sold for a fixed fee of only £100.

Sunday at the Sanctuary

On Sunday 11 August, Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary hosts their annual Open Day. From noon til five, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick, you can visit all the animals and birds who’ve been offered a safe haven by Barby Keel and her hard-working team of mainly volunteers, have some lunch, play the tombola, visit the various stalls and generally support a very worthy local cause.
