Open space is at a premium in West St Leonards – one reason why local residents are up in arms in opposition a proposed new housing development on the South Saxons Wetlands. There are other reasons too, as Bernard McGinley reports.  An Open Day will be held by West St Leonards Community Association on Monday 2 March.

It’s good to talk

If anyone recalls the slogan from that BT advert with Bob Hoskins from the 1990s: ‘It’s good to talk’, it’s one that’s been ringing in my ears lately. I’ve been doing more talking than I probably ever have and, hand-in-hand with that, I’ve also been listening.  HOT’s Xaverine Bates reports on the recent inaugural gathering for local social enterprises and other social economy organisations.

Coastal Space? Whatever happened to Local Space?

The council has joined forces with local housing association AmicusHorizon to create a social regeneration project known as Coastal Space. This follows the withdrawal of Newham-based housing association Local Space from its much-heralded £2 million partnership with HBC, which had been designed to achieve very similar goals.
