Music, food and film at AfriKaba festival

The AfriKaba festival kicks off this Saturday, 29th, with an afternoon of family entertainment and a free evening concert on the Stade. The festival continues the following weekend with a series of films and music at the Electric Palace cinema. Nick Terdre reports.

Hastings is host to a series of events celebrating African and Caribbean heritage, arts and culture through dance, film and music. The AfriKàBa festival commences on 3 October in conjunction with Black History Month. Zoya Mathison reports.

The Festival of African and Caribbean Art is now in its fourth year in Hastings. It overlaps with the higher-profile Coastal Currents festival, which is devoted to the visual arts, so tends to get overlooked, writes Antony Mair.
