£100,000 still needed to save the pier!

The final push to persuade the administrators that the Friends of Hastings Pier can muster the financial support to run the pier is under way – the fund-raising effort is being ratcheted up to maximum to secure backing of £500,000 by the end of the month – 9pm on Thursday 31 May to be precise. HOT’s Nick Terdre (also one of the Friends) reports.

The pier on the day it reopened in April 2016. Friends of Hastings Pier's attempts to keep it in community hands now hang in the balance.

Pier in administration as rescue plan is rejected

Hastings’ pier is no longer a going concern following stakeholders’ failure to support the rescue plan put forward by the owner, Hastings Pier Charity. HPC’s board has resigned and administrators have been called in. However, the pier is expected to remain in operation next year. Nick Terdre reports.
