Launch of 1066 Local Energy share offer

Hastings will see its first ever community energy investment offer go live this week with residents able to buy shares to fund 250 kilowatts of solar (roughly 1066 panels) on the roof of the Ore campus of East Sussex Coast College. Kate Meakin from the 1066 Local Energy campaign writes.

Great news for 1066 Local Energy campaign

After long negotiations and discussions, the directors of Ore Campus of East Sussex College Hastings have said ‘Yes’ to the installation of solar panels on their roof. Fantastic news, marking the first big success of the 1066 Local Energy Campaign. HOT’s Zelly Restorick spoke to Richard Watson of Energise Sussex Coast, one of the partner organisations involved in the project.

News from the 1066 Local Energy Campaign

The 1066 Local Energy campaign, an initiative from not-for-profit Energise Sussex Coast (ESC), aims to ‘increase community owned renewable energy, keeping money within our local area, decarbonising our energy and creating a fairer deal for us all’. Kate Meakin of 1066 Local Energy and ESC is keen to spread the news and gather support for the various initiatives they are developing.

Local eco show homes sought

Have you made changes to your home to make it more energy efficient? Changes like an eco-refurb? Better insulation? Solar panels? Wind turbine? New heating system or boiler? Damp-proofing? Compost toilet in the garden? Simple DIY measures such as draught-exclusion? Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) is looking for local homes to be included in their Eco Show Homes tour taking place in September and they’d love to hear from you if you’d like to take part. A step closer to vision of solar-energised town

Great news for Energise Sussex Coast (ESC) – the local independent not-for-profit organization that helps people to reduce their energy bills, be more energy efficient, reduce fuel poverty and increase the use of clean renewables – who have won £2,500 from Brighton Energy Co-op (BEC).
