St Leonards Post Office consultation

The campaign to save St Leonards Crown Post Office has a new challenge: last week Post Office staff were informed that management are planning to hand over the London Road branch to a ‘retail partner’, who has already taken over three village post office branches in East Sussex, and is about to become the franchisee of Newhaven Post Office. Things are looking up in central St Leonards, with lots of new businesses opening their doors in London Road, Kings Road and Norman Road. But the area will take a big step backwards if the Post Office is allowed to implement its plan to close the Crown post office in London Road. St Leonards Post Office keeps our local economy thriving

Last Saturday saw a grand turn out by the local community to defend the CROWN Post Office in St Leonards. HOT’s Erica Smith joined the throngs to find out why people were so concerned about the intention to close the only CROWN Post Office left in the whole of Hastings.

Some thoughts on campaigning to save our Crown Post Office

This Tuesday morning on the way to work, I heard our MP, Amber Rudd, on the Today programme talk about the Suffragettes and how important it was that women campaigned so hard to get the vote. She fought shy of agreeing that those women who had undergone prison sentences for their actions should be pardoned, but she supported the Votes for Women activists who lobbied for something that they believed was important for a fair and democratic society. Erica Smith contemplates public protest.

Queen ‘not amused’ about the P.O. shenanigans

It’s become a tradition for the Queen Victoria statue in Warrior Square to be tampered with by locals. In recent years she has sported a giant walnut whip on her head and an Acid House smiley mask. HOT’s Erica Smith sees the funny side.
