Transition Town Hastings

News from Transition Town Hastings

The Transition Network was founded in 2005, as a response to the twin threats of climate change and peak oil. Hastings and St Leonards Transition Town (TTH) has been set up with the intention of creating a more connected, healthier and self-sufficient community. We want to ensure that both environmental and economical sustainability are at the heart of regeneration, along with equality and diversity, writes HHT. The areas of focus are: the local economy, housing, waste and recycling, food, sustainable transport and energy.

Platform planting

Just a brief update on what’s happening next: on 24 September, the TTH Team are handing over designs to train  company Southeastern for a community garden on the platform at Warrior Square Station. You’re welcome to come along, especially if you submitted a design, although the meeting will be very brief: 10am – 10.45am.

Waste not, want not

The next meeting on waste will happen at White Rock Hotel from 6.30 to 7.30pm on the same evening. All welcome. This will be followed by the core group meeting from 7.45 to 9pm.

Transitioning in tents

On the weekend of 2-4 October we will hold a Transition Camp, starting with an opening ceremony on Friday at 4.30pm and ending on Sunday at 4.30pm with a closing ceremony. It is a family friendly event with a full programme of workshops on both days to inspire, share and educate.

Food is included and much of it comes from the farm or other local organic sources. Food is vegetarian with vegan options. We’ll do what we can if you have specific needs (please let us know in advance – and maybe bring something to supplement and be sure).

The cost of the weekend is £70, including camping, workshops and food, plus volunteer slot in kitchen or other camp duties. The location is the WoWo Campsite, Uckfield, East Sussex TN22 3QT.

    Hi Zelly

Thanks for this….can I point out though that the TT Camp event is not run by us….we are just promoting it for another group. Details can probably be found on Transition Town Network.

    Thanks

    Alison
