Semi-final recitals at piano competition
Sandra Goodsell, festival director at Hastings International Composers’ Festival, says there will be three amazing finalists going through to the final of the International Piano Concerto Competition. The programme will be Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov and Liszt – it will be a great evening!
The following contestants have successfully reached the final of the 2015 Hastings International Piano Concert Competition: Scipione Sangiovanni from Italy, Alexander Panfilov from Russia and Garam Cho from South Korea.
The final takes place today, Saturday 7 March, at 5.50pm at White Rock Theatre, when the finalists will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Brian Wright. The winner will receive the first prize of £10,000.
There was a masterclass for the three unsuccessful semi-finalists with members of the International Jury at 6pm on Friday 6th at Fairlight Hall. These were Daniel van der Hoeve from the Netherlands, Quang-Hong Luu from Vietnam and Florian Mitrea from Romania.
