Katherine ‘Nineteen fifties style’ HOT Style-Seeker, Claudine Eccleston, reports.

Where do you live and what brings you here today?

Katherine lives in St Leonard’s and was out enjoying the sunshine and the opening party.

How would you describe your style?

I appreciate the fifties and like the style, the colours and the accessories.

Where do you buy your clothes?

Katherine buys nearly all her clothes from vintage shops and flea markets. Her glasses and handbag were bought locally from Calneva who specialises in 1950s vintage things on our very own Kings Road in St Leonard’s. She is very proud of her vintage Russell and Bromley shoes from a jumble sale. The lovely yellow tank top was purchased during a visit to the Isle of Wight. It’s actually a child’s hand knitted woollen top that she washed and then carefully stretched to fit.

What are your favourite clothes?

Katherine seemed a little affronted by this question. It was as if I offended her, “It’s like being asked to choose my favourite child,” she said. She then told me that she had a collection of dresses from the fifties which were among her favourite clothes. But, her “pride and joy” is her Bulova watch a present from her girlfriend who happens to own the aforementioned Calneva.

Katherine is self-employed, she’s an independent researcher in health and social care.
