The Stade, Hastings

The leaseholder of the amusement park facilities on the Stade by the Old Town (from the Stade Hall to the western end of the miniature railway) is proposing to spend large sums of money in improving the whole area and, what is more, is consulting with local people before deciding finally on these plans. Hastings Old Town Residents Association talked to HOT’s Chris Cormack.

White Rock Baths, this area was last used as an ice-rink

Wanted: innovative ideas to use another Hastings wasted space!

Last Wednesday, Nick Sangster, the Council Officer in charge of the Coastal Users Group (CUG) organised a visit to the dis-used White Rock Baths for members of the CUG and other interested parties. Hastings Borough Council are looking for a tenant to take on this challenging but exciting space. Erica Smith attended, and spoke to Philip Oakley – a man who likes the challenge of re-inventing unloved spaces.

Following an archaeological dig in April of this year, new discoveries have been found at the Old St Helen’s Church site at Ore Place, thought to be one of the oldest buildings in Hastings, reports  Zelly Restorick.
