Warm welcome for the Frost Fair

Christmas came early for St Leonards, in the form of the Frost Parade and Frost Fair on Saturday 28 November. As always on important occasions, HOT’s favourite photographer, JJ Waller, was there to cover the parade, market and general fun. Scroll down to see the day through JJ Waller’s eyes.

Young producers plan St Leonards Festival

Meet Will Baxter, one of the young producers who are responsible for programming this year’s St Leonards Festival. Will grew up in St Leonards and has attended nearly every festival – either as an audience member, on stage or working on one of the stalls. HOT’s Erica Smith asked him why he wanted to get involved behind the scenes this year…

At the Way Forward meeting last night, Mandy Curtis from 18 hours told local residents about this year’s extended St Leonards Festival and why she wanted to add a ticketed opera garden party to the existing one-day, free community Saturday. HOT’s Erica Smith wanted to find out more and caught up with Mandy whilst she and her team of organisers set the finishing touches to the schedules.

Space is the Place

This Sunday, 11 August, there will be an extraordinary perseid meteor shower – and the best place to watch it from is the ’60s-space-age-retro-glamour of Herstmonceux Observatory. HOT’s Erica Smith closes one eye and gets ready to squint through the telescope at the final frontier…

St Leonards Festival and Big Day Out

Rather than trying to describe what a wonderful day this was, we are letting the pictures do the talking. Photographer JJ Waller has been photographing regularly in St Leonards on Sea since the summer of 2008 (but see also Chris Connelley’s first-timer thoughts).
