Then pay a visit to Labyrinth, an exciting new initiative recently opened up at the seafront. HOT’s Zelly Restorick spoke to Patrick Nicholson about the new venture, a store, work and activity space for community groups, run by volunteers with a focus on the environment, cycling and the arts.

A significant challenge being faced head on by a new international partnership called Answers to the Carbon Economy (ACE). This collaborative research and development project held its launch conference in St Leonards on Thursday 31 May as Richard Hull reports.

At this time of year it is hard to ignore the giant pink clouds of Valerian which fringe the seven streets area of St Leonards. The seeds of this sun and sea-loving plant nestle into the cracks in walls and thrive in the limey mortar, producing numerous raspberry pink plumed flowers.

The long bank holiday weekend of May 4-7 was the occasion for a visit to Hastings from one its twin towns, Dordrecht in The Netherlands. But this was twinning with a difference and with a distinctly bicycle feel as 15 members of the Dordrecht Touring Club De Mol were hosted by Hastings Urban Bikes.
