Tribute to Alan Spackman

Barbara Spackman has announced that a tribute will be paid to her husband Alan in the form of a concert in memory of  this well-loved Hastings character. The  programme will include a variety of music, anecdotes, humour and, of course, something from his beloved Beethoven. Barbara says that all are welcome to come and enjoy a glass of wine with Alan, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.

A natural slice of  life

HOT has previously reviewed the gallery in the empty shop in Bexhill-on-Sea town centre, however, with a changing raft of artists from the De La Warr Pavilion’s Artist critique group in the Twelve by Six show,  HOT reporter, Lauris Morgan-Griffiths, thought it well worth a revisit to see their last show.

De La Warr Pavillion pop-up shop in Bexhill

De La Warr exhibiting local artists

Something odd is stirring in Bexhill. The De La Warr Pavilion is sponsoring and showcasing twelve local artists.  It is refreshing to see an art gallery looking towards their own vicinity rather than casting their eye further afield and jumping over what is straight in front of them. HOT reporter Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went to Bexhill to find out what  was happening in  the pop art gallery in an empty shop in the town centre.

The cast of a production of Calendar Girls that will be shown at The Stables Theatre in Hastings, have posed for a calendar to coincide with the play and to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice. And HOT is looking for a qualified theatre critic to write on local drama productions (including Calendar Girls!), writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.

St Mary in the Castle

The best deal “by far” for St Mary in the Castle

Our report of these developments is followed by personal comments from HOT volunteer
