The Crow House

The Crow House

Great new acts at Battle Street Festival

Sunshine is forecast this Saturday for April’s Streets of Battle street arts festival. For a second month the festival brings free street performances for the whole family with two brand new shows.

The Crow House by Circo Rum Ba Ba, is a brand new silent movie inspired show, in which three characters create a home together in a battered old house. Full of slapstick, circus and acrobatics, this show will entertain the whole family.

Streets of Battle also hosts the first ever performance of Belle Vue Hotel by Bash Street Theatre. Set in a boarding house in a 1930’s seaside town, landlady Elsie Lovejoy battles an eviction order from the factory boss next door.

“We’re really excited about these brand new shows from two of the UK’s most highly respected street theatre companies”, said Mandy Curtis of 18 Hours, who is helping produce the event. “It’s an amazing opportunity to see really outstanding theatre for free and it’s suitable for the whole family.”

Visitors can also enjoy a Day of the Dead stiltwalker and hear the samba-inspired beats of drumming group, Dende Nation.

Streets of Battle runs on the last Saturday of March, April and May and is funded by the Arts Council for a second year, following the success of 2016’s festival. Streets of Battle is organised and supported by local businesses and residents.
