Eichmann in St Leonards
Hannah Arendt famously described ‘the banality of evil’ in her book ‘Eichmann in Jerusalem’ and many of us are familiar with the expression ‘I was only acting under orders’. Here we can judge for ourselves. The White Crow – Eichmann in Jerusalem, is an imagined confrontation between the Nazi war criminal, Adolf Eichmann, and the Israeli psychologist, Dr Miriam Baum (a fictional creation), after his abduction from Argentina by Israeli Intelligence.
Eastbourne-based Bootcamp Theatre present the premiere of this powerful play by the award-winning writer, Donald Freed for three nights at Kino-Teatr in St Leonards.
Donald Freed’s plays, books and films include ‘Inquest’ (directed by Alan Schneider); ‘Secret Honor’ (directed by Robert Altman); ‘Circe and Bravo’(with Faye Dunaway, directed by Harold Pinter); ‘Veteran’s Day’ (with Jack Lemmon and Michael Gambon) and ‘Death in Washington’. He received three Rockefeller Awards, The Gold Medal Award, The Berlin Critics Award The NEA Award for “Distinguished Writing”, Hollywood Critics’ Award and PEN USA 2006 Literary Award.
