FREE creativity workshops

Local artists, Janey Moffatt, Lee Shearman, Pip Rowson and Sophie Shaw were recently awarded funding from the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ to run a series of FREE creative workshops that promote good mental health and build community. These were due to start in May. Obviously these are not going ahead as planned, but they feel like they could be more valuable than ever in our current circumstances, so they’re thinking about how they can take the project online.

“The key elements are to come together with a group of people who are new to you, to make stuff and to talk about what you are experiencing right now,” writes Janey Moffatt. “If this sounds like something you might be interested in, get in touch. We may start with just a chat about what you’d all like and how we can facilitate it.

“In terms of materials – we’re assuming no specific art materials and are going to get creative about what everyone may already have, whatever that may be (even if it gets a little ready steady cook!)

“It’s likely you’d need a computer/tablet/phone with a camera and an internet connection

“Get in touch if you’re interested and we’ll go from there. Join our FB group below or email creativechange@hocc.org.uk – and please share! Thank you!”

This project is a collaboration between The Craftimation Factory and House of Cultural Curiosity – we are a team of practising artists with a wide range of skills including illustration, animation, writing, painting, collage and textiles. And our team includes a qualified coach and a mental health peer support worker.
