Humming into doors.

Standing alone in a derelict space in St Leonards is a small, blue building. Like Doctor Who’s Tardis. It’s made of doors. And who knows what goes on behind closed doors? Intrigued, HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths took a look, opened and closed the doors and spoke to the developer, Bob Humm.

SoCo Showcase 2

The East Sussex based group, SoCo Artists, initiated this project last year as an opportunity for members to develop a new body of work or show work from their ongoing practice, in a curated exhibition.

Time Please

‘Time Please’ returns to The St Leonards pub on 12 and 13 June, following five days at the Brighton Fringe Festival. It’s Not Us theatre’s last outing in The St Leonards not only brought the house down, but, also the police turning up on mass after reports of a ‘woman in danger’. Whilst rehearsing the play, the company were confused to find a road full of police cars and police officers in stab vests beating on the door. Obviously the play is too real and it is one of the few plays which has to inform the local police that they are performing!

Candidate “silenced” at Rye hustings

The hustings in Rye on Saturday was marred by controversy when independent candidate Nicholas Wilson was ”silenced” by the chair as he raised the question of the UK government’s relations with Saudi Arabia. Nick Terdre reports.

Artists open their studio doors

Local artists and craftspeople are about to open the doors to their studios so that visitors can see them in their working environment. It’s time for South East Open Studios, now in its 21st year and a well-established highlight of the cultural calendar. Nick Terdre reports.
