Early 2017 start to Archery Ground construction

Following approval for the changes it requested to the Archery Ground planning permission, developer Gemselect says it expects to be ready to start construction in about six months’ time and have the first houses ready for occupation after another two and a half years. Nick Terdre reports.

Public meeting on Monday 22 August to discuss revised plans for the Observer Building

The public consultation period for the revised plans for the Observer Building is soon to close, which has caused a flurry of activity on the borough council planning website, writes Erica Smith. It’s also led to local resident Lorna Lloyd co-organising a public meeting about the proposed changes with Castle Ward Forum councillor, Lee Clarke.

Archery Ground developers get their way

Cabinet ministers and others agree that the Archery Ground in St Leonards-on-Sea is part of a site of national importance. Zoom Arts extends its reach

Multiples of exhibitions on offer from Zoom Arts, the local group of artists who exhibit here and roundabouts. A few weeks ago HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths tripped across Antony Penrose who had come to the Printworks from nearby Farley Farm to talk about Joan Miró, who he had met as a child, and his children’s book Miró’s Magic Animals.

The Bunker: planning chief provides handy advice on how to turn refusal into approval

Many questions remain as to how the notorious ‘Bunker’ in Rocklands caravan park was fast-tracked from refusal to planning consent. Digging in the files, St Leonards exile, Richard Heritage, uncovers a revealing memo of a meeting between Hastings Borough Council’s then development manager and the owners of the caravan park – and finds that the two applications for the same proposal were assessed completely differently.
