This week sees the re-opening of the Observer Building space, which less than two weeks ago left the splendid hands of Erika Holland and Dawn Dublin. A new collective has been formed and launches itself back into the community with the hope of maintaining the energy that was so much a part of this space.
Hastings campus is not sustainable in the longer term, the University of Brighton has concluded. It will now seek to develop a “new model” of higher education provision in the town, in conjunction with Sussex Coast College Hastings. But a withdrawal from the town, as local politicians had feared, is not envisaged. Nick Terdre reports.

Hastings-based photographer Chris Parker has won the top prize in the British Weather category at the prestigious British Life Photography Awards with his image of the Old Town net huts in a snow blizzard. Another of his photographs featuring the St Michael’s Hospice Santa Fun Run in Alexandra Park was highly recommended in the Street Life category. Rising Talent is an opportunity for emerging artists to exhibit at The Gallery at Hastings Arts Forum (HAF). As part of HAF’s commitment to support and encourage local artists and bring art to the community, we are offering young and emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit their work free of charge for a period of two weeks at the beginning of April, writes Olivia Shaw, trustee of Hastings Arts Forum.
