Seeds of Freedom

A packed Friends’ Meeting House was given food for thought by a talk and film on the subject of ‘food sovereignty’. The film, ‘Seeds of Freedom’, showed how traditional farming practices around the world have been hit by the introduction of genetically modified seeds and farming methods, which place the profit-margins of multi-national companies above the needs of rural communities.

The Coal Porters, one of the UK’s finest alt-bluegrass acts, hit the road this autumn for some memorable shows before they rest up for 2016. This is their last British tour behind their well-received album, ‘Find The One’, the sixth album from ex-Long Ryder Sid Griffin’s stellar new act. The album shows The Coal Porters expanding their palette as they take acoustic folk and bluegrass into previously uncharted waters.

Polo Piatti winkles up in Hastings

Polo Piatti is one of the personalities to show to the wider world what diverse musical talent there is to be had in 1066 country. Having shown the Hastings Tango Club the way to go with Argentinian music, Polo is now to be for the third time music director of the Hastings International Composers Festival, which is taking place on 24-26 Sepetember. Julian Norridge interviewed Polo about his life story and how he came to Hastings.
