Modernisation of Hastings street lights addresses global warming

The latest in a series of public events highlighting the switchover to LED street lights in Hastings will focus on changes in the town’s Castle and Tressell  wards. HOT’s Chris Cormack reports.

At the end of the semi-finals of the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition the generally accepted view seemed to be that one of the two South Koreans – Yekwon Sunwoo and Taek Gi Lee – was likely to be winning the prize, writes Antony Mair.

A feast of music at the Piano Concerto Competition Semi-final

The semi-finals of the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition brought a feast of music for those of us in the White Rock Theatre last night.  For the laughable cost of £8 per seat we were treated to seven mini-recitals by a quite remarkable array of young players ranging in age from 17 to 27, writes Antony Mair.

Combatting the religious right in Europe

Bananas the focus of Fairtrade Fortnight

If you see human bananas cavorting around the town centres in Bexhill or Hastings this week, don’t be alarmed – they’re part of the Fairtrade Fortnight campaign for banana producers to be paid a fair price by British supermarkets. Nick Terdre reports.
